Reflecting on the year that was

Spread the love

Well here we are, our final blog for 2017, and what a year it has been!  Grab a cuppa and join us in reflecting on our journey over the last twelve months.

Inkling around the world
Over the last year the Inkling team has travelled more than ever before (racking up almost 400 flights and countless travel hours). While the constant travel takes a toll, that just so happens to be the sh*t sandwich (as Soph so eloquently puts it!) that enables us to pursue our our Giant Outrageous Liberating Dream (our GOLD) – to ensure that 50% of leadership roles worldwide are held by women.

Gem and Soph had a whirlwind trip to the UK at the start of October. They met with leading organisations to discuss gender diversity initiatives and delivered a women’s leadership program with the London Leadership Academy and the NHS in London. Gem also delivered a keynote to the wonderful folks at General Mills in the UK, Ireland and Switzerland.

Soph also ran our wildly successful first Inkling retreat in Bali. She then travelled to Malaysia where she delivered a keynote at UEM and a women’s leadership workshop at British Telcom. The fantastic response she received in her short trip has led to some very exciting developments, with plans for us to introduce our suite of public programs into Asia next year!

Just last week Vashti travelled to Papua New Guinea to coach participants from one of our international corporate clients. It was a deeply insightful trip that has helped us to understand the different challenges that women face in other parts of the world. We are very grateful for the opportunity to learn about their lives and experiences.

Inkling in Australia
This year we have facilitated and coached our way around Australia! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with thousands of men and women, and to see our public workshops selling out! We can’t wait to bring our public programs to even MORE cities next year, check our programs calendar if you want to find out where we’ll be and when.

Inkling getting bigger and bigger
Inkling has literally doubled in size this year! We started with a team of 7 in Adelaide, and now have expanded into a Sydney office where the team is even bigger than the one in Adelaide! We will be rounding out the year with 16 incredible team members at our Strategy Day tomorrow (we call it our Deliberate, Dream & Deliver Day). We feel very lucky to have recruited some incredible individuals this year, each with a wealth of knowledge, experience, ideas, strengths, and skills. Other than the opportunity to meet these wonderful women, the best thing about our team growing is that it means that what we’re doing is working; our message is spreading and the demand for our services is increasing. This means more women in leadership roles and real progress in creating workplaces where both women and men can thrive.

WHAT’S NEXT: Building confidence to Speakeasy

In other news, our Speakeasy workshop is coming to Darwin and Brisbane in February next year, and we’d love to see you there! Speakeasy is our acclaimed two-day public speaking workshop responsible for helping thousands of women around the world to move past their fears and excel in any speaking situation.

Darwin – 27 & 28 February 2018, Vibe Hotel Darwin Waterfront
Sydney – 28 February & 1 March 2018, The Point Brisbane

One last goodbye

While a year can seem fleeting (honestly, how is it December?), when you take the time to reflect on what you’ve achieved in the last 12 months, you realise that a year is in fact bursting with opportunity and possibilities. We are eagerly anticipating the adventures that await us in 2018, and hope that you are too.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for coming on this incredible journey with us, and being a part of our story this year. All of this is only possible because of wonderful women and men like you who believe in our purpose to drive gender balance at leadership level. Thank you for all your kindness and support in 2017.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and New Year! See you on the other side!

Lots of love,

The Inkling Women team xx
